The 1990s claimed more than just the Bugatti EB110 as a victim of the recession:the Jaguar XJ220 was another very high- profile casualty-although its failure wasn,t just due to the economic downturn.It was launched in 1991.This plan was to create world fastest car,with the top speed of 220 MPH.
This proposed car offered Porsche 959-like technology,including a 6.2-litre ,V12,48-valve mid-engined power plant,with four-wheel drive,forward-tilting doors and adaptive suspensions.
It include twin turbos that helped produced 542bhp,but it was rear wheel drive only.the lightweight
bonded-honeycomb,aluminium body was one of its technological highlights,along with a racing fuel cell and the amazingly sleek body design,which is still a massive head turner.This styling cleverly drew its inspiration from the D-type and old XJ13 racing Jaguars.It has rich leather seats,air-conditioning,electric window,a sic CD stereo and a glass roof for light.when it was compared to the racer-wannabes it was called supercar limo.Its price was as double as Ferrari F40.This car costs more than 500,000 pounds. That,s how it became another high profile super car.Estimately around 275 cars were built!
